Il est muni d&rsquo;une anche simple maintenue par une cordelette bien serr\u00e9e, comme une clarinette du syst\u00e8me Oehler. Il est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement r\u00e9alis\u00e9 en bois d&rsquo;\u00e9rable ou de cerisier, trait\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;huile bouillante ou \u00e0 la r\u00e9sine. Un pavillon en corne de vache est fix\u00e9 sur la partie inf\u00e9rieure de l\u2019instrument. Le mod\u00e8le le plus r\u00e9pandu compte dix trous et une cl\u00e9 de registre. La perce n&rsquo;\u00e9tant ni v\u00e9ritablement cylindrique, ni v\u00e9ritablement conique, la cl\u00e9 de registre produit un surprenant intervalle d\u2019un dixi\u00e8me.
